Apartment Life Thoughts

Hey guys! I know I'm behind with the Thornn update, but.. I have no excuse. Well, yesterday I did, because I was working on a special project for Ann, but... yeah.

Speaking of Ann- she rocks. She told me that she had an extra copy of AL, and if I wanted it, and I was like OMG YES PLS, and she sent it! Ann- you're awesome, you rock! *waves at Ann!*

(Ann is the owner of Bold and Simful, home to the Orion Bay stories- they are also amazing, you should check them out.)

Anyway, I got Apartment Life in the mail yesterday, and I tested it out- without downloads, of course.

Photobucket

Let me start off by saying that I love the Kiss Kiss Darling Gesture- I know it was already in the game (when Sims have like 60-70 Daily Relationship, it's how they greet each other) but I like that they can do it whenever you want now.

Photobucket

They also added the High Five option to the Gestures menu.

Photobucket

I was testing out the new socials, and even though I had already seen it (thanks ST!) it was really sweet.

I like how it was the guy whose foot popped. *snort*

Spiral stairs! I wasn't really all that excited for them, but they're here. I wanted to see if multiple Sims could go up them, and, as you can see, they can. They look really cool too.

I also like the new decorative features. I wasn't really creative with the moving items up and down the walls, or placing multiple items on the walls, but it is an awesome feature. I like the vents too, they add a touch of realism that is cool in apartments.

Speaking of apartments, you can see I didn't really take a lot of pictures of them, or even keep my test family in one. I dislike the fact that a lot of them are too small for more than 3 Sims (the painted townhouses really could NOT house a family of 4, which I used to test this expansion). I like the idea of them, and some of my Sims will be living in them (which you'll see shortly) but the actuality of it was just "eh" for me.

Photobucket

I LOVE that teens can hang out on the playground items- I don't love that they don't talk to each other on them. She just kind of sat there blankly.

Photobucket

The playground items are really very cool. I love the way they look, and the fact that teens can play on them as well.

Also, I see EAxis was sneaky with their outfits for this EP. They converted a lot of outfits (poor cloudlessnights, I won't be needing a lot of her stuff anymore) from previous eps for teens/adults/elders. I don't have the K&B Stuff Pack, but it was nice to see my teen wearing the delicious argyle from the pack. I'm going to convert it for adults.

I'm also going to do some Alpha Edits for some of the outfits- I like most of them, but they are a bit fresh. I downloaded HP's Modesty Default Set, which is good, but some of the really nice outfits are revealing backs and stuff, so I'll try my hand at that.

Photobucket

This picture is pointless, but I find her adorable. Isn't she? She's the product of the Marylena Hamilton face with the Dorian Kauker face, and she's lovely.

Photobucket

I REALLY like this interaction, it's just too cool. I love the way they just hang. If only they could, you know, interact while they did, it would be perfect.

Photobucket

Photobucket

WITCHES! This was the main reason wanted the pack, and they did not disappoint. I dislike the fact that they feel the need to bring roaches and lighting everywhere they go (I'm looking at you, evil witches!) but they are cool.

Prepare for Witch Picspam.

Photobucket

The Infallibly Good Witch isn't so Infallibly Good- she started poking the Atrociously Evil witch as soon as she saw her, and making her cry. No, I'm lying, she poked her right back! This went on for a while.

Since it was the premade Cordial sisters lot, it was pretty easy to get them to be witches. (Random, but did anyone else get the Pleasant Sisters vibe from them? One of them is good, one of them bad, and the layout of the house was similar, as well as the kitchen and the bedrooms- it was creepy.)

Photobucket

I like Samantha a lot more than I like her sister. She has a very original face, reminiscent of the Stabby Death Nose face, but not quite. She's definitely going to Kodak.

Photobucket

Kimberly became a witch too. I think I like the bad witches better, if only because they look cooler and I like green more than blue.

Photobucket

As soon as she became a witch, she cast Beautify Lot. It looks very, very awesome. I need new adjectives, y/y?

Photobucket

The poking finally evolved into an all out brawl. I don't know why they didn't just duel. :P

Photobucket

I had Sam study her Dark Magic, because she is awesome. I also noticed she started out with a lower alignment than her sister, but I assume that's because she was "pre-programmed" to be witches.

Also, you can see they have carpets on the ceiling. *cough* I REALLY need help with this: what is appropriate for ceilings? Carpets are a no, obviously, but the wood all looked weird up there, and... yeah, I suck.

Photobucket

Kiss Kiss Darling is my favorite of the "new" interactions.

Photobucket

I then played the premade family with all of those kids that comes in the Bin (random, but I HATE Bin families. If I *wanted* more families, I would add them, don't you think? They're going to be added to Desiderata, but I'm aging them up and making them townies in Kodak.)

Oh, and I moved them into the trailer park because I'm cruel like that.

Photobucket

Georgia is pretty, but kind of bland. And retatreded, apparently, she didn't have any of the teen interactions: she couldn't teach any of the toddlers a single thing, and couldn't get a job. WTF?!

Photobucket

I couldn't NOT see the Huggle, could I?! This is adorable.

Photobucket

I'll leave you with this shot of the creepy guy watching the kid play on the playground.

All in all, I like the pack- lots of new features, lots of new interactions, new clothes, it's cool. I expected more from the Apartments, but, whatever. Thanks for listening to me ramble! :D

Yay!!! I love kiss, kiss darling and how adorable is toddler huggle?!

I went nuts with the pipes and vents at Mendenhall Enterprises, they add a nice touch of realism. Not that we ever actually see the building in story...humpf!

Teens on playground stuff...why do they act like no one else is present? It would have been cool if a bunch of them hung out together on the monkey bars, but I digress.

What is with the creepy stalker dude? Don't talk to strangers kids!
